Return of

the Walldogs

2021

In 2011, Plymouth was selected by the prestigious Walldogs who “Rocked the Cheese Capital” leaving behind 21 beautiful, handcrafted and professionally painted murals depicting our rich history.  This was significant considering the Walldogs typically only convene at one location each year.  Fast forward ten years to the “Return of the Walldogs” which took place August 25 – 29th.  Seven new murals were painted along with a children’s mural now hung in the Plymouth Library.  In addition to capturing local business and community history, the murals draw residents and visitors to enjoy a self-guided mural tour throughout the historic downtown.  You can download or pick up a map the Plymouth Chamber created and find QR codes on each mural which provides background information.

The “Return of the Walldogs” project ensures the legacy of Plymouth’s rich history continues through these masterful murals. A self-guided mural tour draws visitors who generate additional business to our historic downtown by shopping and dining. The total project budget, not including event activities and entertainment, for 6 new and maintenance on 19 existing murals was $105,000. This includes artist costs (fees, travel, lodging, meals) and mural expenses such as paints, supplies, boom lifts, and frames.
